Zoo: Is it morally or even ethically correct?

The truth is that enslaving of animals, humans is a bad practice and should be stopped and not patronized, there is, however, a double standard kept by western slave owners, for example, I was once visited by more than 20 white policemen because my dog was in a cage in Europe.

I once visited a Zoo in Europe and got chills as it brought some horrifying memories of Slavery back to me.
A Zoo is seen by some people as a place to meet, see, or even in some cases touch wild animals, schools use Zoos as an educational medium to show children real-life wild animals, parents take their children there as a family fun place, or a place to fascinate their children.
To a common thinker, a Zoo is a great idea and mothers love taking their children to Zoos but is this craving to see incarcerated animals a fun passion or a wider perverse human nature to watch the living suffer?
Let's look at a trend here, countries with the largest, or let me put it like this, countries known to have had the largest slave populations in the past now have the biggest Zoos.

On the other hand, the incarcerated Animals are taken from their home continents for a show in these countries, do it not remind you of your artifacts that are in museums in these countries?
To those who would argue that it is for educational purposes, I will ask these questions, do the children in need of the education of watching animals suffer ever get to hold lions with their hands or pet them?
Is it not practically the same as watching them on a screen apart from the smell or excretions of the animals?

What education do you think that showing children animals in cages gives to the children?
Would you like to be encaged and also used for educational reasons or research?
The truth is that enslaving of animals, humans is a bad practice and should be stopped and not patronized, there is, however, a double standard kept by western slave owners, for example, I was once visited by more than 20 white policemen because my dog was in a cage in Europe, so animals in Europe are not to be kept in cages but African animals are meant for cages.

Another example is needed because some again would argue that the animals are wild so they belong in cages, but however, dogs are also known to have bitten people fatally another wild animal is the horse, Originally horses are wild and aggressive but both animals have been tamed and domesticized so why are the same efforts to use for African animals if ever you want it in your country?
To those who argue that the animals were rescued from the wild, I would ask them if they were rescued from anything or anywhere in their life and they end up in a cage for pleasure and object of spectacle would you be happy knowing that the rest of your life will be spent confined to those four walls?

I am not a nature activist or even any type of activist, who I am is someone who simply wants life to be respected and treated with honor and dignity and I believe that as long as it can move, it can reproduce, it can mate and it can die then it is a life irrespective of the nomenclature e.g. Human, insect or even animals.
Another issue that is to be considered in the issue of western Zoo ownership is that just like in the time of slavery is that the Zoo owners travel into continents other than theirs and take animals that are known in such continent and make money out of it.

Some people would also argue that the Zoo owners pay for the animals, I would say to them that the zoo owners pay just a tiny amount of money while they collect entry fees for the rest of the lives of these animals so, in essence, the zoo owners gain complete ownership of these wild animals except the Chinese Panda which China" smartly I must add" gives out only on rentals and require certain conditions be met before consideration, this should be a lesson for other countries that are currently allowing western countries steal their wild-life for a little tip or small payments.

Generally, animal captivity is wrong and though you might have a good intention in taking children to see them you might as well be passing our history of incarceration and its needs to your children, moreover, psychologists the world over have associated animal cruelty as an early sign of narcissism, so in essence, you might be a root player in creating monsters for the future, today´s technologies have made it possible for the same animals to be seen even in their actual size and even in closer proximities on HD screens so ask yourself if you are not also a victim of the teaching of incarceration and despite your self claim that you are not perverse you might just be, say no to Zooing of animals and yes to freedom of life.

Thanks Marvin
